Williamson names squad for Seychelles friendly


Kenya coach Bobby Williamson has retained a bulk of the squad that featured in the All Africa Games qualifiers last month, to do duty in the international friendly match away to Seychelles next week.
The squad, mostly compromising Kenyan Premier League based players, will report to camp on Monday morning for a day long training session, before departing for Victoria on Tuesday morning, ahead of the Fifa commissioned clash against the islanders at the Stade Linite the following day. None of the foreign-based players will be in the travelling party.
Williamson told Nairobi News this contest will help his players gain match fitness ahaed of the Olympic qualifiers which begin next month.
BUILD UP MATCHES
The U-23 team which went down 4-1 on aggregate against Egypt in the All Africa Games qualifying tie, will commence the Olympic Games qualification campaign with a match against Botswana next month, with further matches against either Zambia or Gabon lined up.
“We are seeking continuity and hence require such build up matches for exposure ahead of the next fixtures,” Williamson told Nairobi News.
Enock Agwanda, Danson Kago and Collins Shivachi (Sofapaka), Favid Gateri (Bandari), Micheal Olunga (Gor Mahia), John ‘Leftie’ Ndirangu (Nakuru All Stars) and Robert Mboya (Mathare United) are some of the established players in the team.
Harambee Stars hammered the Pirates 7-0 on aggregate, the last time the two teams met during the preliminary phase of the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
