Witch doctor who beheaded lover over sex convicted

A witch doctor who beheaded his lover in a bizarre attack after being denied sex has been convicted of murder by the High Court.

Passing the verdict, Lady Justice Jessie Lessit, said Godfrey Wanjala Wechule purposed to kill Jane Kadogo Mutiso on Mashujaa Day 2013 at Gatina area in Kawangware, Nairobi County after she declined his advances at a fee of Sh50.

And in the same court, a man who beheaded his uncle after a family row was also convicted and remanded in custody until March 14 when he will be sentenced.

Edward Kago has been charged with murdering Peter Kamau Waithiru on the Valentine’s Day 2014.

Convicting both men who were separately charged, Justice Lessit said the prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubts that they had committed murder.

BEHEADED

Deciding the Wechule case, she said he attacked the deceased heinously by cutting off her head with a knife then hid it in a basket before taking off in a huff.

The judge said the accused killed the woman who was 20 as her children watched.

“Immediately after beheading Jane the accused took away his children and lodged them in a neighbours house,” the judge noted.

He thereafter returned to his house where he covered the body with some cloth then hired a boda boda to Kawangware police station where he surrendered himself.

The judge said Wechule led police to the scene of murder where they retrieved the body.

REMANDED

The prosecutor asked the court to treat the accused as a first offender. The court will deliver its sentence on March 20, 2017.

In the Edward Kago case, the judge said, his daughter witnessed as the accused killed his uncle after a family row.

“Mr Kago picked a panga and slashed the head of the deceased while his daughter watched in broad day light. Neighbours dashed to the scene and found the headless and lifeless body of Peter Kamau Waithiru,” the judge said.

The judge directed some Sh19,000 which had been confiscated from the accused shall be given back to the family of the deceased.

The judge directed that the accused be remanded in prison until March 14 when he will appear in court for sentencing.
