The man who rose to fame after appearing in accident scenes in Nakuru and Thika as a witness has been charged eight times under different names in different parts of the country.

Mr Dennis Muigai Ngengi has been charged under different names in Naromoru, Nkubu, Kiganjo, Mweiga, Rumuruti, Meru and Baricho, on different dates since 1998.

A report sent to the Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro by the Registrar of Criminal records P Ndunda indicated that a forensic analysis of Mr Ngengi’s fingerprints showed that he had been charged with stealing, giving false information, impersonation, assault and obtaining money by false pretence. He was also once charged for malicious damage to property.

NO TRIALS

The reports of all the eight charges, however, do not show results of the trials.

The report indicated that Mr Ngengi was charged under the aliases Alex Musyoka, Martin Githaiga, Martin Mutangilu, Francis Theuri, Charles Karanja Mwangi, Anthony Waweru and Francis Karanja Mwaniki.

The suspect was arrested in Ruiru in Kiambu County on Friday, three days after he claimed on live TV that he had witnessed the accident in which Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru died near Kabati on the Thika-Sagana road.

Three weeks before, Mr Ngengi had told reporters at the scene of a helicopter crash in Lake Nakuru that claimed fives lives, that he was a ‘State pilot’ and a colleague of the pilot in the crash.
