Wives warned against crusades after pastor arrested over witchcraft claims

Men in Changamwe, Mombasa, have now warned their spouses against attending prayer crusades.

This is after a Zambian pastor was arrested in the area over suspicion of practicing witchcraft when his car was impounded with paraphernalia that included decayed blood.

“We saw what happened, we even saw police handcuff him. No one in this household should go to any crusade unless you want to see hell in this house,” said Gilbert Mwambire, a Magongo resident.

Mr Mwambire, a businessman, said women had converged at the Magongo grounds to hear the teachings of the Zambian preacher.

“Women are gullible. One time I had issues in my marriage and my wife’s pastor asked her to take my clean undergarments to church with Sh20,000 as a remedy. I played along with my wife only to establish that the preacher was fake! Residents almost lynched him but he ran away.

ENSNARING WOMEN

“There are churches emerging everyday with cult activity which are ensnaring women. If the government will not shut them, we will take the law into our own hands,” he said.

Other men who had converged at Magongo grounds also passed the same judgment, saying they would never allow their spouses attend such crusades.

Mombasa deputy OCPD Patrick Njoroge said Pastor Andrewroniacs Nchobe was arrested in Changamwe while preparing for the crusade.

“The car was intercepted while being driven with another man at Biashara street at around 12 p.m due to the foul smell emanating from it. The two are helping  with investigations. We found some paraphanalia, some of which will be taken to government chemists to establish the contents,” he added.

The pastor was supposedly to preside over a miracle crusade meant to heal hundreds of Magongo residents, but it flopped after he was arrested by police in plain clothes.
