Woman, 23, found dead in Kiambu lodging, man arrested


Police in Kiambu have launched a death investigation after finding a woman dead inside a lodging.

The body of the 23-year-old woman was found in a lodging in Githunguri, Kiambu County.

Police said that Elizabeth Wangui Mbugua was on March 3, 2023, found at Mwangaza lodging within Githunguri township hours after another man had booked the room.

The man who had booked the room has since been arrested and is helping police with investigations.

Workers at the lodging said that they discovered the body and called the police who visited the scene and found her lying naked on the bed covered with beddings.

According to the police, the deceased had blood oozing from the mouth.

Police also discovered blood-stained pillowcases, sheets, and innerwear at the scene.

It is not clear what caused her death. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy, which will determine the way forward in terms of the probe.

In Woodley estate, Nairobi, police have also launched another investigation after the body of a man was found in a kneeling position.

Police said the body of John Edgar Obok, 58, was found next to a stool inside his house.

Police said they found some medication documents indicating that he was suffering from high blood pressure and stomach ailment and was undergoing treatment.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

In another incident, police are investigating the death of a three-month-old child in their house in Lunga Lunga slums, Nairobi.

The parents of the child said they discovered his lifeless body on his bed when they went to check on him on Sunday, March 5.

The child was sleeping when he was found dead on March 5, police said, adding an investigation had been launched.
