Woman arraigned after threatening to beat up officer at police station

A middle-aged woman who allegedly threatened to beat up a police officer at the Embakasi police station has been charged with creating disturbance and misconduct in a police building.

Faith Wangui Kinyanjui was accused of creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by attempting to beat police constable Emily Ndiwa on July 15 at her office.

She is said to have pointed fingers at the complainant and a commotion ensued as she allegedly shouted at the officer.

But she denied the charges before chief magistrate Heston Nyaga of Makadara law courts and claimed she was shouting because of pain after Ndiwa pushed her.

Kinyanjui had launched an assault case against a neighbour. Ndiwa, however, told her to bring witnesses to record statements but she had not.

Ndiwa took the investigations file to the director of public prosecutions offices at Makadara law courts and was directed to record witness statements.

She called Kinyanjui to share the recommendations of the DPP but a scuffle ensued between them.

Nyaga freed the suspect on a cash bail of Sh3,000. Hearing of the case starts on September 28.
