A woman from Mukunike village in Kangundo sub-county, Machakos has been arrested for allegedly being sexually involved with a class seven pupil.

The woman, a vegetable vendor in the area, is also accused of infecting the 14 year old boy with gonorrhea and syphilis.

The suspect is said to have lured the boy using money, which made him leave his parents to go and live with her for three weeks.

Area Chief Bethwel King’ele condemned the incident terming it a taboo and child abuse.

Mr King’ele, however, called on the residents who were baying for the woman’s blood to remain calm and let the law take its course adding that police were already investigating the matter.

GONE MISSING

“The boy’s parents had reported to me that their child was missing and they suspected he was in the woman’s house. She denied the claims terming them as mere allegations when I asked her,” said Mr King’ele.

Furious residents had on Monday stormed the suspect’s home after word went round that the boy had come home limping and that when the parents took him to hospital, he was diagnosed with the two sexually transmitted diseases.

Jennifer Mutio, a neighbour, expressed disgust over the act adding that other children were at a risk of being subjected to such heinous acts.

The chief confirmed that the suspect was transferred to Kangundo Police Station awaiting completion of the investigation.
