Woman in court for attacking boda boda husband with panga


A woman was Monday arraigned in a Nyahururu court and charged with attacking her husband with a panga.

Ms Alice Wanjiku Waweru pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault and property destruction when she appeared before Nyahururu senior resident Magistrate Ocharo Momanyi.

She was charged that on December 09, 2017 at Pesi area of Laikipia County she assaulted her husband, Mr Hillary Macharia with a panga on the head, neck and face, resulting in multiple injuries.

The accused person was also faced with a second count, that on the same day she damaged a motorbike owned by Mr Macharia by smashing it with a panga.

According to police Ms Waweru, who returned a month ago from Saudi Arabia where she has been staying, attacked her husband after a quarrel.

The incident was reported at Ng’arua police station where the accused was arrested and charges preferred against her.

The magistrate ordered that the complaint be summoned to the court on December 15, 2017 where the court will issue further directions.

The complainant is admitted at a private hospital in Nyahururu town in a critical condition.
