Woman in court for biting love rival’s lip

A woman who allegedly bit her husband’s lover in Soweto, Embakasi East in Nairobi and threatened to take her flesh to a witchdoctor has been charged with assault and causing bodily harm.

Ms Caroline Mboya is facing charges of injuring Ms Mercy Nekesa Wanjala on February 18, 2023 contrary to section 251 of the penal code.

On the material day, the complainant, who works as a house help in a city estate, was on her way to a shop when she met Ms Mboya.

Ms Mboya is reported to have accosted Ms Wanjala while accusing her of cohabiting with her husband. In the ensuing confrontation, Ms Mboya allegedly bit Ms Wanjala on the lower lip.

The accused person then allegedly told the victim that she would take the piece of flesh from the lip to Ukambani to bewitch her.

Ms Wanjala, who was bleeding from the wound, sought treatment before reporting the matter to the police the next day where she was issued with a p3 form to be filled by a doctor. Ms Mboya was later arrested.

The accused denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi of the Makadara Law Courts.

She was released on bond of Sh50,000 with a surety of a similar amount and an alternative cash bail of Sh30,000. Hearing of the case starts on May 16, 2023.
