Woman kills lover after dispute over phone, mob lynches her


A woman who stabbed her boyfriend to death after a dispute over a phone was lynched by a mob in Murang’a Thursday morning.

Mr Kennedy Murimi,, 23 year-old man from Wairi village, in Kangema town was stabbed twice on the neck and chest by his girlfriend Ms Salome Wambui.

The couple is said to have quarreled after man requested the woman to give him her phone, but refused to return it.

Ms Wambui 19, was beaten and lynched after by an angry mob that had gathered at the home during the 6am incident.

WAS RUDE

An eyewitness said Ms Wambui was rude when she was being questioned by the mob and even threatened to kill whoever  got close to her.

“That’s how members of public got furious and started beating Ms Wambui and later lynched her,” Mr James Mwaura said.

The man’s mother, Flasia Nyambura Kariuki said the woman had spent the night at Murimi’s female cousin house.

“She came to my son’s house in the morning and walked out, but a few minutes we heard a loud scream. Then we found my son lying in a pool of blood,” Mrs Kariuki said, adding that his son died on the spot.

LAST BORN

The distressed mother said her deceased son was the last born of the family who used to help her financially.

 

Kangema OCPD Cosmas Wachang’oka said his officers rushed to the scene after Mr Murimi’s father reported his son’s death. He said the officers found two bodies lying at the ground.

“Mr Murimi’s body was oozing blood while Ms Wambui’s body was burnt. We took their bodies to Murang’a morgue,” the police boss said.

Mr Wachang’oka said they have launched investigations into the incident.
