Woman, Policeman injured in pub brawl

A police officer is fighting for his life at a City hospital after he was assaulted while two ladies fought for him.

The officer attached to Kware station and whose identity is yet to be revealed found himself in the exchange as he enjoyed his drink at Villa Police Station Canteen in Embakasi.

A statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reveals the injured officer engaged one of the attendants known as Ms Lucy Mueni which did not anchor well with her colleague Favian Nekesa.

“Mueni appeared to have been smitten by the recently graduated officer as, she would sit next to him giggling in excitement, whenever she was not serving the rest of the patrons,” the DCI statement read in part.

When it seemed that Ms Nekesa who was seated behind the counter could not hold it further, she shot from her position burning with rage, eyes rolling in anger and started being physical.

“Unable to take any more of their shenanigans, Nekesa left the counter flying and launched a barrage of blows and kicks at the hapless Mueni who was sent tumbling on the floor injuring her head and hands,” the DCI said.

Before the officer could calm the situation, he was equally met with flying projectiles from Ms Nekesa.

The altercation worsened and the commotion turned ugly attracting the attention of police officers who were on patrol to the bar.

The new entrants managed to restore sanity but both Ms Mueni and the officer were badly injured.

“They were taken to nearby Mukuru health centre for medical attention and allowed to go home,” the statement read.

However the condition of the officer worsened and was rushed to a city hospital where he is currently admitted and in a stable condition.
