Woman stranded at JKIA for nine hours finally linked to family


A woman who was stranded at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after she jetted into the country has been stabilized and linked to her family.

Ms. Pamela Adhiambo Ochieng arrived in the country via an Egyptian airline and fellow passengers noticed that something was not right.

They then sent an alert saying that Ms. Adhiambo could not be immediately linked to her family because all the phone numbers that she had were not going through.

The alert also revealed that she hails from Ugunja in Siaya County and the name of her father is Mr. Fanuel Ochieng.

“She is currently at JKIA she came back via Egypt Air, early today morning [January 2, 2023]. She is not in a good state the number we found in her documents is also not going through. She is at JKIA’s security office,” the alert read in part.

She arrived at JKIA at 3:37 am and she was traveling from Cairo. She alighted at terminal 1C.

She had left Cairo International Airport (CIA) at terminal 3 on EgyptAir at 9:49 pm on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

However, when Nairobi News contacted the JKIA information center, the official said that already Ms. Adhiambo had been stabilized.

The official also said that they had already contacted her family members who were already heading to the airport to pick her up.

“She is doing fine and currently her relatives have confirmed that they are on their way to Nairobi to pick her up,” the official who requested anonymity said.
