Woman who defamed TV host Willy Tuva on Facebook arrested

A woman who posted a defamatory claim on Facebook about TV host Willy Tuva was arrested over the weekend in Naivasha.

The woman, only known as Wanjiku, had claimed in the post that Willy Tuva was knocking on her hotel room after the two had allegedly met in the hotel bar.

She posted the claim on the Facebook group Kilimani Mums.

Willy Tuva is the host of Kenya’s biggest showbiz television show, Mseto East Africa, that is aired by Citizen TV. He was in Naivasha over the weekend for a show when the lady posted the defaming message.

A fan took a screen-shot of the message and shared it with Tuva who notified the police.

Within hours, the owner of the Facebook account was arrested and detained at a police station in Naivasha.

Tuva then posted a message that he had forgiven the woman but wanted the law to take its course.

By Sunday afternoon, the presenter seemed to have changed his mind, after the woman apologized in a post on the Kilimani Mums group.

The presenter then posted that he had withdrawn his defamation suit against the woman.

“FORGIVEN : Following The Apology Made By Wanjiku After Admitting To Have Used A Fake Facebook Account To Tarnish My Name With False Claims, I Decided To Forgive Her And Therefore Withdrew The Case Against Her. I Believe She Has Learned From Her Mistake And Deserves Forgiveness. Blessed Sunday,” wrote Tuva.
