Aspiration is when food, liquids, saliva, or vomit is breathed into the airways.

“The pathologists conducting the postmortem found traces of milk in my son’s lungs and concluded that it led to his death,” Ms Mwende said, adding that the postmortem was conducted on Monday, February 13, 2023.

Ms Mwende said that the burial plans were underway, and the son, whose body is lying at the Kenyatta University morgue, will be buried on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the Thika Town Cemetery, Kiambu County.

Over the weekend, well-wishers decided to fundraise for the single mother whose story was shared on social media.

“I really want to thank everyone who has assisted me raise the money and I am now going to give my son a good sendoff,” Ms Mwende said.

She also revealed that another well-wisher had gone out of the way and offered her a coffin that would be used to carry the remains of her son.

Ms Mwende had gone to work and left behind the minor when things went south, and the baby died mysteriously.

In her statement, the house girl told the police that she was busy with the house chores and when she went to check on the baby, she found him unresponsive.

It is then that she alerted his mother, who rushed to the house, but they could not save the baby.
