Woman’s half naked body found dumped in market

The body of a half naked woman was on Wednesday found dumped inside a busy market in Limuru, Kiambu County.

Limuru Sub-County police boss Mr Paul Yator said the body discovered by traders in the wee hours of the morning.

“The traders through the market’s chairman then reached out to us, we responded, processed the scene and took the body to the morgue,” Mr Yator said.

“One man is already in custody to assist the police with investigations. He has been a close friend to the woman who has only been identified as Chebet and they were last seen together before the lady was found dead,” he added.

He also said since the body was half naked from the waist downwards chances are high that she might have been raped.

A trader recounted how he stumbled on the body when he arrived at his business premises in the early hours of the morning.

“I had just arrived when I saw the body, I decided to alert my colleagues and when we tried to identify the person thinking she was one of us, we could not,” he said.

Another trader said when they failed to identify the body, they informed the police through the leadership of the market.
