SAMANTHA: What do women lack that men will find in sex robot?

Are women so problematic that our men have resorted to seek comfort and solace in the cold, lifeless, robotic arms of ‘Samantha’?

If you do not know who Samantha is, pull up a chair and find out. Samantha is a doll that the Chinese invented primarily for sexual gratification. It can talk and is shockingly life-like and men all over the world have gone wild about it.

According to a video by a man who shared his views on the invention, Samantha would be the perfect companion. He said that he would stay with ‘her’ like he would a real woman, and she would be a regular feature in his house. Visitors would even get used to her presence. He said that he would give the automaton a chance since she would never nag him and ask endless questions about other females he related with.

Samantha would be great company when he watches sport as she would not interrupt him even once. He claimed that his sex life would be amazing, because the doll would never have a menstrual cycle and would never complain of ‘not being in the mood’.

Other pros for the doll include the fact that after the initial cost of purchase, the men will not be obligated to spend money on it by feeding it and buying it presents.

Many men seem to agree with him. In fact some women are okay with the new invention and would not mind it if their men had it. Ladies claim that they would prefer their men release their pent up sexual frustrations with a doll rather than with another woman.

One woman on a national radio station even went as far as saying that she would like the male version of the doll to be made for women ASAP.

I’m a bit confused by the whole thing because I partly agree and disagree with arguments put forth. I understand how some women would be okay with this, because they are sure that their men cannot have real feelings for the doll, they cannot get it pregnant nor can they bring home diseases.

However, don’t they feel inadequate so much so that they are ‘replaced’ by a robot? And what is it that women lack that men – even those in long term, intimate relationships – have resorted to look for and invent a robot for companionship? It is mind boggling.

For me, if my man decides one day that he would prefer to have relations with an inanimate object rather than with me, before he acts on this impulse, he should sit me down and tell me my shortcomings rather than ‘replace’ me.

Communication is a much underrated tool that helps forge marriages and relationships. If my constant nagging is the problem and he would prefer the mechanical sweet nothings of Samantha, then I should be told before something else takes over my matrimonial bed.

If I have become too busy with life, work, children, chamas and church to pay attention to my husband, he should tell me gently where I’m going wrong. I believe this would open up the pent up feelings and emotions for both parties.

No matter the great ‘advantages’ of having Samantha in your life, nothing can beat a real living, breathing human being, if only for just companionship. I bet life would get pretty lonely if you are alone, even if the doll can hold conversations.

Plus, if you have watched enough horror movies like me, you would always have the nagging feeling at the back of your mind that ‘she’ would become sentient and start stalking you.

Probably even become jealous and dangerous the day you decide you want a real person in your life. I’m just saying.
