Women stage demo against Saitoti’s widow

Scores of women demonstrated outside Milimani law courts on Wednesday to call on George Saitoti’s widow to return her son to a couple that claims to be his biological parents.

The women say they share the concerns of the Nakuru couple that is claiming to be Zachary Musengi Saitoti’s parents.

The women chanted songs as they demonstrated outside the court with placards that renounced Margaret Saitoti.

The dispute over the parentage of former Internal Security Minister George Saitoti’s son was settled last year after Sebastian Maina Ngunju and his wife, Elizabeth, agreed never to claim that Zachary is their son.

This was after investigations by the Director of Public Prosecutions established that Zachary was not the son of Mr Sebastian Maina Ngunju.

In a consent order entered and signed at the Milimani Law Court, the couple agreed never to file any suit claiming Zachary is their son.

But  later in April 4 this year they moved to court seeking orders to reinstate the case against the widow of the late minister.

The couple claimed that they were not consulted by their lawyer John Hari Gakinya before signing the consent that terminated the case.

The request that was set before Justice Isaac Lenaola will be ruled on May 23.
