YELLOW BOXES: City Hall’s new idea to ease traffic in CBD

February 29th, 2016 1 min read

The Nairobi County government has introduced the Yellow Boxes at junctions to help ease traffic in the Central Business District (CBD).

The Yellow Boxes have been placed at intersections that are notoriously congested.

This includes intersections along Kenyatta Avenue, Mama Ngina Street, Wabera Street, City Hall Way and other areas with crossed junctions (X junctions).

When the traffic lights turn green, motorists are expected not to enter the Yellow Box unless the exit is clear.

“Drivers who enter the Yellow Box intersections illegally will be arrested and prosecuted by the Nairobi City County government traffic marshals with obstruction as per the traffic act,”said the Director of Public Communications Beryl Okundi.

The County government has asked city motorists to co-operate in the new measure.
