Comedian Desagu defends Muigai Wa Njoroge’s polygamous stance
By Elizabeth NgigiComedian Henry Desagu has stirred up a diverse online reaction by defending Muigai Wa Njoroge’s decision to take in a second wife.
In a Facebook post, Desagu urged people to consider both sides of the story instead of relying solely on one person’s portrayal of the situation.
Njeri Muigai recently spoke about the challenges in her marriage, confirming that she is no longer married to the gospel artist.
Desagu shared a cryptic message highlighting societal double standards, suggesting that sometimes even women cheat but are not judged as harshly as men in similar situations.
“After they leave their husband because of bibi number 2. The same ‘goat’ wife starts dating married men… #doublestandards #poorboychild,” Desagu remarked.

While clarifying that he is not advocating for polygamous marriage, Desagu emphasized the importance of hearing both sides of the story and not rushing to judgment based on one perspective.
“Not advocating for polygamy but let’s hear both sides of the coin. The wife and the husband’s side. Rather than women always being the victim probably they pushed their men to depression forcing them out of the marriage and later they acted as a victims of their mess.”
Here are some comments from netizens responding to Desagu’s post:

Lydiah Lynn: “Our great-grandfathers used to have more than 2 wives, and the co-wives’ love was strong. What’s happening nowadays?”
Maggy Mbugua: “Sounds like a man cheated, expected the wife to forgive as usual. She probably stayed. Stayed but the chote back, but the man couldn’t handle it. That’s usually the case.”
Alice Njeri Gichuhi: “You cannot understand the pain if you have not drunk from the cup. I would rather you keep quiet and pray for her.”
Pam Pamella: “Yes, but they’ll have peace and freedom. No one will be expecting wifely duties from them. No one will abuse them physically or emotionally. I’d choose a married man’s side chick than a cheating husband’s wife anytime.”
