Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, spouse of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on Kenyans to stay sober during the festive season.

In her holiday shout-out to all Kenyans, Pastor Dorcas didn’t hold back as she threw caution to the wind urging folks to ditch the booze and keep it sober.

“I want you to remain sober so that we can have a productive and prosperous nation,” Pastor Dorcas said.

Pastor Dorcas has been fighting against drugs and substance abuse in the country as part of her agenda in rescuing the boy-child.

“I want you to celebrate alive, as I have always been saying I want you to celebrate the way you want. I want you to celebrate sober,” she added.

Pastor Dorcas noted that many people have been maimed through road carnages, something she says should not be the case during these festivities, some of which are caused by drunk driving.

“As you drive, drive sober. We must be careful the way we behave this season. Let us not lose lives while we can control ourselves,” she said.

Barely a week ago, Pastor Dorcas, while speaking at the SOT Technical Institute in Bomet pointed out the urgent need to halt the detrimental impact of drug peddlers on children’s lives.

She sternly warned those profiting from selling dangerous substances, equating them to murderers, and urged the community to unite against these suppliers of poison.

“Those who sell poison to you are trying to make money. I fervently hope that you make them poor. Consider this your warning. Anyone engaged in selling these poisons is akin to a murderer,” she said.

Pastor Dorcas has been on a tour of Bomet County and is actively involved in initiatives to combat substance abuse.

Notably, she inaugurated the Bomet Treatments and Rehabilitation Centre at Koiwa Hospital and welcomed the first group of 100 volunteers seeking recovery from addiction.

On November 28, 2023, she unveiled plans to collaborate with medical facilities under both national and county governments to allocate dedicated wards for the rehabilitation of individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

Recognizing the overwhelming demand for treatment, she emphasized the inadequacy of existing rehabilitation centers and expressed her intention to work with the Ministry of Health to establish youth rehabilitation wards.
