Can’t afford bride price? Japan is the place to be

Kenyan men who find payment of bride price an attractive prospect, then Japan is the best place for them to seek partners.

For here, there is no such thing as paying bride price or even wedding expenses for that matter.

Apparently, all it requires for a man to secure a lifetime partner is to convince the lady in question that he, indeed is madly in love with her.

Thereafter “delegations” from the two families will gather for a familiarization meeting, after which plans begin for a simple church or legal wedding commence.

Come the wedding day, only the church function or exchange of vows in the presence of a Government official is open to the public, who are also requested to cater for their transport and meals.

BRIDE AND GROOM

Then the bride and groom head to their new home while the guests disperse.

Also newly married men in Japan need not worry about “feeding” their wives and children as is often the case in Kenya because 90 percent of ladies aged over 25 – which is when most people get married here – work either for the public or private sector, or are self employed.

This is in stark contrast to the current cultural norms in Kenya, where men spend huge amounts of money in bride price and funeral expenses.

Simply put, it is considerably cheaper to marry a Japanese lady.
