City Stars midfielder Vincent Owino impressed by club’s recent form

Nairobi City Stars midfielder Vincent Owino is optimistic the club will evade relegation and remain in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League next season.

Owino asserted that despite Simba wa Nairobi struggles this season, the team is optimistic of pulling a massive performance in the seven remaining matches in the league.

“We will survive relegation and God willing we’ll manage a better position at the end of the season. Personally, I will always work hard to serve the team to my best.” said Owino.

So far, Owino has scored three goals, provided two assists, and registered three-second assists in six second-leg games he’s featured for the club.

Under the tutelage of Nicholas Muyoti, City Stars are 15th on the 18-team league standings with 26 points from 26 matches

Despite struggling this season, City Stars have impressed in the last two matches, thrashing Vihiga Bullets 5-2 on April 16, 2023 and posting another impressive 2-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks six days later.

In the 5-2 win over Vihiga Bullets, center back Timothy Muganda made his debut and didn’t disappoint as he not only clocked 90 minutes but also gave an assist which led to the second goal in the game.

“I am happy to have finally made my premier league debut. I must say it very well though it’s not as I expected. I felt very confident about myself but there was a bit of adrenaline flow at some point,” he said

“The team is very competitive now but after that debut, I will work even harder to maintain my spot. I am looking forward to many more games and to helping my team post positive results in the remaining games of the season.” added the former Sony Sugar player.

Muganda was dogged by injury in the preseason which ruled him out of action for a better part of the first leg. His debut came after being an unused substitute on six previous occasions.

In being fielded against Bullets, Muganda became the ninth player at City Stars to earn his premier league debut, and the 31st player to feature in the league this season for Simba wa Nairobi.
