Exclusive: Shaffie Weru lands job in Nairobi Governor Sakaja’s office
Media personality Shaffie Weru has landed a new job in Governor Johnson Sakaja’s office as the Head of Events and Branding at Nairobi County.
As he steps into his new role, he is determined to create experiences that will showcase the very best of this region and push the boundaries of what’s possible in event planning and branding.

In a recent interview with Nairobi News, Shaffie spoke about his vision for the future of the county’s memorable events.
“Nairobi is the New York or Paris of our country, and we offer the best experience and push boundaries that have never been pushed before to give the best results in service delivery for our number one client, the people of kanairo.”

Adding, “It’s not about my vision but the vision of my governor as it is enshrined in his manifesto that includes a City of Dignity and making Nairobi work!”
He talked about his role, which involves overseeing all governors’ indoor and outdoor events, ensuring they look, feel, and sound amazing.

Shaffie also shared details about some projects he is currently working on, including the Battle of the Choir and the Kanairo Anthem Challenge.
He spoke about his transition from radio to events and his challenges in his new role. “Radio was a one-man army job,” he said. “But here, I have a huge team in communications and protocol, and it’s not a one-man show.”
When asked how he stays ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing industry, Shaffie said he does his homework, visits festivals and events worldwide, works with emerging events companies, and gives free consultations to other regional event companies.
“Adapt or die is my life mission,” he added.

Shaffie also shared some of the most memorable events he has planned in the past, including the Nairobi Festival and Wanyama Roya Cup. He plans to bring the same level of excitement, energy, and magic to his new role at the Governor’s Office.

Finally, when asked about his legacy, Shaffie said he wants to be the head of events that all 47 counties look up to and call for reference whenever they plan or try to execute any county event.
He wants his events and branding initiatives to continue thriving and evolving long after his tenure.
“I want the Governor’s dream of a city of order and dignity achieved as we make Nairobi work,” he concluded.
