Semelang’o to reward Stars for victory over Ethiopia

July 4th, 2015 1 min read

Former Youth Fund CEO Evans Gor Semelang’o has promised to award the national football team with Sh 200,000, if the team eliminates Ethiopia from the ongoing Africa Nations Championships (Chan) competition.

Semelang’o, who is reported to be interested in contesting for the Football Kenya Federation Presidency in the forthcoming elections tentatively set for November, paid the team at a courtesy call at the Mvuli Hotel in Nairobi West on Friday evening.

“Believe in yourselves. We will be there to cheer you on and provide that moral support. Getting the three goals is within your capability,” Semelang’o told the players.

During the function, Semelang’o also gave the team Sh 100,000 for “airtime”.

WELL PREPARED

Kenya needs to beat Ethiopia by three clear goals to advance to the next stage of this competition, having lost the first leg fixture 2-0 scoreline a fortnight ago.

The Kenya and Ethiopia tacticians meanwhile, all believe their teams will advance to the next stage of this competition.

“We have a lead to protect, and that is our job for at least 90 minutes,” Ethiopia coach Yoaanis Saalim said.

His Kenyan counterpart Bobby Williamson said: “We have prepared well and the lads all believe we can get the required result. Ours will be a balance between keeping the back tight and attacking to get the goals,”.
