Uhuru’s kin launches Jubilee campaign lobby – PHOTOS

A team of young city professionals with links to top government officials have launched a campaign lobby that will educate the public on how they can benefit from government projects.

The group, dubbed The Grand Team, is headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s kin Nick Kayu Muigai.

The group opened its headquarter office in Nairobi on Sunday and will be financed by Mr Kayu Muigai together with his friends.

It will kick off its nationwide tour at the coast this week and proceed to western and Rift Valley.

Its main purpose is to disseminate information on existing Jubilee projects and how people can benefit from them.

According to Antony Mwamburi, one of its members, the Jubilee government has delivered a lot, but the opportunities created are not being utilised.

“During our tours we will seek to obtain feedback from the people as we show them the opportunities that are available hence empowering the communities through what the government has been doing,” said Mr Mwamburi during the launch over the weekend.

The group claims to enjoy a membership of about 100,000 people drawn from different counties.

“We will also play the role of lobbying the government for the empowerment of the youths and women to be able to benefit from different projects. During our tours we will collect data on what ought to be done to ensure the projects benefit the local communities,” said Mr Mwamburi.

“All of us are working in the private sector, we just felt like something needed to be done as the political propaganda is becoming too much and is poisoning the minds of Kenyans who ought to be benefiting from projects,” he added.
