Chinese billboard on Mombasa Road amended after uproar
The Chinese billboard that was pulled down at Bellevue area, along Mombasa Road has been erected again.
This time near Imara Daima area but with a change that has the text complete with English translations.
The billboard was put up by a Chinese company that was advertising its services that included road construction.
Its original design had all the content written in Chinese, a goof that provoked an online protest.
A day after the protests the billboard was pulled down leaving a part of it tattered and hanging as if vandalized.
The company has now put up a similar advertisement but this time included translation of what it was all about.
Here is the initial tweet that caused the uproar.
This is a billboard in Kenya done completely in Chinese. My only question is, will you be allowed to erect a Swahili billboard in the middle of Beijing? Chinese are taking us for a ride. They must be rudely roaming around Nairobi while inwardly thinking we are idiots pic.twitter.com/HcdaxRps5v
