Court lifts arrest warrant for MP charged with assaulting pastor
Mwingi central MP Joe Mutambu rushed to court on Thursday morning to have a warrant of arrest lifted.
The legislator told a Kibera court that he was sick when the warrant was first issued on June 16.
On Wednesday, Kibera principal magistrate Benard Ochoi had extended the warrant after the MP failed to appear for a case he is accused of assaulting preacher Thomas Wahome of Helicopter of Christ. Church.
Mr Mutambu told Magistrate Ochoi that he was unwell when the warrant was issued and presented a medical report from his doctor as proof.
He added that he has been cooperating with court since he was charged last year.
Prosecution did not object but said it has amended charges against the MP.
The Court lifted the warrant with a warning that the MP should take court matters seriously.
