EXCLUSIVE: Bony shares secret to lucrative Man City deal
New Manchester City recruit Wilfred Bony has exclusively told Nairobi News it was “only through consistent hard work” that he managed to seal a lucrative move to the Premier League champions.
The 26 year old completed a Sh 4.5 billion deal move to the Eitihad Stadium last week, bringing to an end a two year spell at Swansea.
The move that now makes him the most expensive African player in England.
Nairobi News caught up with the player during a training session with his national team Ivory Coast at the Estadio la Paz de Malabo on Saturday, where he shared some of his feelings and ambition after sealing the switch.
ANTICIPATING COMPETITION
Bony is part of the Elephants squad that is set to compete at the African Cup of Nations with the first tie for the bigwigs against Guinea primed for Wednesday evening.
“I have worked so very hard throughout my career, even with the national team where I had Didier (Drogba) above me (in the pecking order), so I had to be in the right frame of mind to work and keep knocking at the door.
“At City, am anticipating much competition because we have very very good forwards over there, but that should not be a problem on my side, because we will all work for the team” Bony told Nairobi News in Malabo
The stocky forward, who spent his formative years in Holland, before joining Vitesse Arnhem, appeared on form during the national team’s training session conducted by coach Herve Renard, scoring three headers within a span of 15 minutes during a practise match.
He said to be in line for a start in the Elephants first match of the tournament against Guinea on Tuesday.
