Popular Nairobi-based record label, Grandpa Records will move from its current studio this Friday. The studio, currently at an apartment in Kibera’s Makina area, will move to a bigger bungalow in Olympic estate.
“We are getting a lot of traffic and we think the best move is to get a bigger space,” said Refigah, Grandpa’s founder and boss.
Artistes signed to the label include DNA, Lenny, Kenrazy and Libby.
Refigah said he chose Kibera because he wanted to reach out to talented singers who couldn’t afford to record in mainstream studios due to lack funds.
“I was also born in Kibera, so it was my way of giving back to this community,” he added.
