Nairobi Arboretum hike entry charges

The Nairobi Arboretum is the latest facility to increase its entry fees.

Effective October 28, 2023, the arboretum’s new pricing structure will reflect an increase from the previous Sh65 per person to Sh115 per person.

A spot check by Nairobi News by Nairobi News confirmed the new prices had already been enforced.

“Yes, the entry fee is now Sh115 and not Sh65. The additional Sh50 is for the e-citizen portal,” explained the guard manning the entry.

The Arboretum, known for its lush greenery, serene ambiance, and diverse plant life, has long been a favored destination for nature enthusiasts and individuals seeking a break from the city’s hustle and bustle.

The Arboretum provides a unique opportunity for relaxation and appreciation of nature’s beauty within the heart of Nairobi.

The e-citizen portal, meanwhile, plays a significant role in facilitating online services and interactions with government institutions.

Interestingly, for visitors who opt to explore the arboretum as part of a group, a different fee structure applies.

In this scenario, each individual within the group is required to pay the standard Sh65 fee, and an additional Sh50 is levied for the entire group.

However, for those who prefer to visit as individuals, the Sh115 per person fee is the standard charge.

As the arboretum remains a cherished refuge for nature lovers and a vital educational resource, the revised fees represent an investment in preserving and enhancing this urban oasis for the benefit of future generations.

The management says the increase ‘underscores the arboretum’s commitment to meeting the expectations of its visitors while accommodating modern administrative demands’.
