KOT salute Orengo for clinching ODM Siaya senatorial ticket ‘without’ campaigning
James Orengo is the subject of speculative discussion among Kenyans on social media for recently pulling off what many suggest is politically “impossible”.
Orengo, 65, this past week easily secured ODM’s nomination to defend his Siaya senatorial seat after winning by a margin of over 100,000 votes.
The veteran politician polled 140,748 votes with his closest rival Argwings Kodhek getting 9,582.
In achieving this, Orengo becomes one of the very few politicians to win a political election without declaring his candidature – save for paying his nomination fees at the party – nor campaigning.
LANDSLIDE VICTORY
This landslide victory was also achieved despite Orengo spending next to nothing.
The respected lawyer never addressed a campaign rally. He is however reported to have had a meeting with “elders” in the county, where he explained he is held up “protecting Baba’s interests” in the Nasa power sharing deal.
He also never printed or displayed any campaign poster. Here’s what Kenyans on Twitter are saying:
I read the history of James Orengo, man I got so much respect for him. He is GOAT
