Mlango Kubwa FC ran riot, thumping Mathare ERC by seven unanswered goals in a one-sided encounter in the Sakaja Super Cup tournament.

In other select fixtures, Pool FC emerged 4-1 victors over Faith Homes in a Mathare sub-county fixture played on November 9, 2023.

Meanwhile, Mutuini Rangers hit a brace past Uthiru United.

Collins Kamau opened the scores for the victorious team with a 20th-minute strike before Njuguna Francis rounded the opposing defence including the keeper to tap home the second goal of the clash with 18 minutes remaining on the clock.

In Uthiru, Uthiru Dreamers earned maximum points without breaking a sweat when they were granted a walk-over which included two goals and three points after their opponents Makombora Bulls failed to honor their last group match.

This action was part of the penultimate day of the group stages in this inaugural football tournament that has attracted hundreds of teams and thousands of fans across the capital city.

Teams in the tournament, which is being competed from the ward level, are now eyeing a slot in the quarter-finals ahead of the ultimate rounds of matches this weekend.

The tournament is sponsored by Nairobi County governor Johnson Sakaja with a aim of tapping and exposing talents at the grassroots.

The winning teams are set to pocket up to Sh6 million in prize money.

Meanwhile, coaches from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League and the second-tier National Super League (NSL) have flocked to this grassroots tournament with the aim of scouting for talent.
