Ruto in Brazil for the Olympics to boost athletes’ morale
Deputy President William Ruto has led a delegation of top government officials to cheer team Kenya at the ongoing Rio Olympics.
Mr Ruto is expected to arrive in Brazil on Thursday, a day before the athletics program officially commences at the international spectacle.
Kenya is expected to harvest its most medals in the track and field events at the games, and especially within the middle and short distance races such as the 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m, 10,000m for both men and women.
Mr Ruto’s arrival comes amid a false start for team Kenya at the games. Already two boxers, plus the men and women sevens rugby teams have been eliminated from the games.
Meanwhile, the sideshows, fanfare and partying continues in Brazil alongside the games, with revellers enjoying Rio’s renowned warmth, sunny beaches and beautiful ladies.
Nairobi News also understands the DP is primed to have a closed door meeting with the officials and athletes in Rio, in a bid to address the doping related scandal that has hit the team in the last few days.
