Terry Anne Chebet opens up about losing her job in the media – VIDEO
Former Citizen TV anchor Terry Anne Chebet has for the first time spoken about losing her job at the media house and venturing into business full-time.
Terry Anne admitted that being laid off was devastating as it came when she was at the prime of her career.
“We all knew there was going to be downsizing but you never think its going to be you. So you are never really ready and there is alot of tears involved,” she said during an interview on NTV’s weekly show, The Trend.
The celebrated former news anchor also shared her journey from selling ‘mitumba’ (second-hand clothes) in her rural home in Kitale to becoming a prime time news anchor.
“I’ve always been interested in business. My first business was actually selling ‘mitumba’ clothes. When I’d just finished high school and I had nothing to do – I was home – my mum gave me a couple of hundred shillings, I went to Kimilili, where there is a market that had amazing things. I came home washed, ironed, packaged and sold what I bought for Sh10 for say Sh 50 or Sh 70,” Terry-Anne recounted.
ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER
Until she left Citizen TV last year, Terry Anne had a enjoyed an illustrious career in the media spanning more than 10 years.
The trained TV producer started off at KBC in 2004 and later worked for CNBC Africa, CCTV Africa before joining Citizen TV.
The multi-talented Terry Anne Chebet is also known for being an actor, singer, moderator, poet and public speaker.
The former Citizen TV anchor however says she does not regret leaving her job in the media and that she is happy where she is as a full-time manager of her two companies, Keyara Organics and Scarlet Digital.
Keyara Organics is a skin care company while Scarlet Digital is a branding and social media agency.
