Tuesday blackout: 11 counties to experience power outages


Eleven counties will today, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, experience a power blackout, according to a statement by Kenya Power.

In a statement, the electricity provider said that the power interruptions would be a result of normal maintenance.

In Nairobi County, the areas that will be affected include Loresho Area, with the specific places being Coopers Kenya Limited, Mukabi Lane, Shinyalu, Parts of Kangemi slums, Parts of Kaptagat Road, Lions Hospital in Loresho, Thego Lane and adjacent customers.

Parts of High Ridge Estate will also experience the blackout, and specific areas include Parts of the second, third, and fourth lanes in Parklands, Pramuhk Road, Diamond Plaza one and two, Acculaser, Christ is the Answer Ministries Church and adjacent customers.

Parts of Jogoo Road will also experience the blackout, with specific areas being Mbotela Estate, Langwaki Oasis, Easton Apartments, Mbotela Sports Grounds, Canon Apollo Primary School, and adjacent customers.

Machakos County was second on the list, and the areas that will be affected include Parts of Athi River and EPZ.

Specific areas include; Portland Junior, Acacia Estate, Kwa Makanga, EPZ Police Post, Embakasi Site, and adjacent customers.

Kitui road will also be affected by the power interruptions with specific places including Kyeni, Kaseve, Kalumoni, Kaani, Kithangathini, Vyulya, Muthetheni, Makutano Mwala, Kivandini, Mbiuni and Gheto.

Other areas within Machakos County include Miondoni, Syokisinga, Katangi, Ikombe, Kenyataa, Seku University and adjacent customers.

Makueni County was also listed with areas that will be affected, including Westlands, Wote Town, Slaughter Estate, Kasarani Estate, Malawi Estate, Shimo, Mwaani, Wetumka Market, Kileleshwa Estate, Wote Hospital, KPLC offices, Kenye Medical Training College (KMTC) and adjacent customers.

Parts of Uasin Gishu County will also be affected by the power interruptions, with specific areas being Posta Mawe Flats, Parts of the West Indies, and adjacent customers.

In Elgeyo Marakwet County, the following areas will be affected: Oryx Petrol Station, County Inn Hotel and Bar, Lilies Market, and adjacent customers.

Kisumu County was also listed, and the areas that will be affected include Royal Swiss Hotel, FEIL Engineering, Balance Park Hotel, Bukna, Four Ways Village, and adjacent customers.

Parts of Nyeri County will also experience power interruptions. Specific areas include Gatugi Water Supply, Gatugi area ta large, Mbari ya Ngai, Kagongo Village, Gura Thuthi Research, Gathenge Market, and adjacent customers.

Parts of Laikipia, Embu, Kiambu, Kilifi, and Kwale Counties will also experience the scheduled power interruptions.

Whenever there is a blackout, most business people usually count losses, especially those whose businesses fully rely on electricity.
