Violence mars Charity Cup

By BRIAN WASUNA February 3rd, 2014 1 min read

The second annual Kenya Power Charity Cup was yesterday marred by eruption of violence midway through the Gor Mahia and Sofapaka tie.

With Gor Mahia trailing 0-1 at half time and AFC Leopards having been eliminated by Mathare 2-3 on post-match penalties, it was unclear which set of fans struck first, but a fight broke out lasting close to half an hour.

Police were forced to fire tear gas canisters at the crowd. An AFC Leopards fan was rushed to hospital with a nasty head injury following the brawl.

Gor Mahia lost 1-3 to Sofapaka.
