Wanga shines at Leopards awards


AFC Leopards striker and Kenyan International Allan Wanga was the biggest winner at the annual Ingwe gala night at Egloos Restaurant.

Wanga claimed a brace after scooping the best striker’s award and the overall player’s title.

Wanga beat winger Paul Were and Noah Wafula for the best striker’s award.

The ex-Petro Atletico forward was in fine form in the just-concluded season, bagging 11 goals to help Leopards finish second in the league behind Gor Mahia.

International duty

Wanga is on international duty with Harambee Stars in the going Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) Senior Challenge Cup.

Martin Musalia claimed the best goalkeeper’s award after pipping Patrick Matasi as Antony Kimani was voted the best defender.

Peter ‘Pinchez’ Opiyo, who was a fulcrum in the midfield, walked away with the best midfielder of the year award.
