Warmer temperatures forecast for Nairobi
Nairobi is expected to get slightly warmer temperatures in the next five days according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.
The county director of meteorological service, Mary Kilavi said it is likely to be cool and cloudy in the mornings with short sunny intervals in the afternoons.
“From Sunday 24th of July, the temperatures will, however, start decreasing again,” she said.
She advised Nairobi residents to keep warm in the mornings and adapt for warmer temperatures on the days, which are expected to be sunny in the afternoon.
“People should not use charcoal jikos in houses without good ventilation in order to avoid inhaling dangerous carbon monoxide,” said Kilavi.
Ms Kilavi said the past one week has generally been cool and cloudy with only brief periods of sunny intervals in the afternoon.
“No rainfall was recorded at any meteorological stations within the County that week but Friday, July 15 was the coldest day with Wilson airport recording the lowest day time temperature of 16.9oC,” she said.
Night temperatures dropped to 10oC both at Wilson and JKIA on the night of Sunday, July 17.
The average maximum temperature during the review period was 19.8oC which was 2.8oC lower than the previous week while the average minimum temperature was 13.1oC.
