Alarm as Nakumatt auditor gunned down outside Nairobi office

An internal auditor working with Nakumatt chain of supermarkets was Thursday shot dead near the headquarters along Mombasa Road.

Police say the manager was shot three times on the head as he left work in the evening by three people who were riding on a motorcycle.

“He was driving and just on arriving at the corridor between Mombasa Road and Nakumatt, he was accosted by three people who shot him three times and just left,” Makadara OCPD, Nehemiah Langat said.

He said police found three spent cartridges at the scene but none of the suspects has been arrested in connection to the murder which happened a few minutes past 5pm. The deceased was shot on the head and in the chest.

HARDWORKING

An eye witness said the assailants did not say anything to their victim. He said they rode towards Mombasa Road after the incident.

Colleagues at Nakumatt who were still shaken, said the young manager was calm during the day.

“He was a very young and hardworking man. We are very saddened by his loss,” a colleague said.

Police say they have started investigations into the shooting.

Recently cases of crime conducted using motorcycles have been on the rise, with police asking residents of Nairobi to be on the lookout.

On February 7, a driver of an employee of the Kenya Airways was shot dead along Bunyala road.

Police reports indicated that the KQ employee had gone for dinner at Ole Sereni hotel and was being dropped home at around 9.30pm.
