Comedian Terence Creative opens up about mental health struggles

Talented comedian Lawrence Macharia, widely known as Terence Creative, recently shared a candid revelation about his mental health struggles.

The father of three opened up about his emotional and mental challenges while responding to an interview by Rev. Lucy Natasha, who hailed him as her favorite comedian.

In a heartfelt message, Terence expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasising how such gestures motivate him during difficult times.

“Thank you so much for the flowers. This keeps me moving, especially at a time like this where I’m struggling with my emotions, depression, pressure, anxiety, fear of the unknown, and over-expectation,” he shared.

Despite his personal battles, Terence offered words of encouragement to his fans facing similar challenges.

“But God is faithful because we get stronger every day. As it is said, ‘if your dreams don’t scare you, then you’re not dreaming enough.’ To anyone out there feeling low, hold on and give it one more try. Better days are coming,” he added.

Rev. Lucy Natasha recently named Terence as her top comedian during an interview with fellow comedian Obinna.

She praised his versatility and creativity, stating:

“There are many talented comedians in Kenya, but Terence Creative stands out for me. When I feel stressed, I watch Terence Creative. He has many characters, and I love his diversity and creativity.”

She continued, “MC Jessy is also on the list. I call him the apostle of joy because he is very spiritual. However, when stress levels rise, Terence’s content is my go-to remedy.”

The renowned content creator has carved a niche for himself in the digital realm by assuming various roles.

In a previous interview, Terence revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic fueled his creativity.

“The pandemic transformed my approach to content creation. With everyone online, I found myself producing more skits. Recognizing the audience’s engagement, I shifted from posting twice a week to daily content. It was quite a shift,” Terence shared.
