A security guard accused of stealing a motor vehicle valued at Sh 6million surprised a court when he alleged that he was framed by a police officer who is eyeing his wife.

The accused, Wyclife Simiyu Masika, 41, shed tears in court as he explained his predicament while also pleading his innocence before Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot on Monday.

“The truth of the matter is that I am being sacrificed a police officer at Muthangari Police Station who openly told me openly that he would ensure I perish in jail as I have been a barrier between him and my wife,” Mr Masika told the court.

“I am very innocent. A police office, who wants to elope with my wife told me to my face that he will ensure I spend the rest of my life in jail while he enjoys life to the fullest with my wife,” he added.

The court also heard that before Mr Masika was arrested and charged with the offence, the said officer had arrested him and locked him up for three days then released him without preferring any charges.

CASH BAIL

Mr Masika pleaded with the court to release him on reasonable bail terms so that he can go to take care of his children. He said his wife is not keen on raising a family with him because of her “new found lover.”

State prosecutor Ms Everlyn Maika said she has no instructions to oppose the release of the accused on bond.

Ms Maika said the accused had not raised the allegations with the investigating officer and that she cannot commend on the same.

The magistrate allowed the suspects plea for his release on bond by ordering him to deposit a cash bail of Sh100,000 with an alternative bond of Sh 1million.

Mr Masika denied that at Riara Heights Apartments at Naivasha Road in Muthangari area Nairobi County he stole a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 valued at Sh 6million the property of Mr John Mwangi Muruthi. The case will be mentioned on September 25 for further directions.
