Cheers as top IEBC official returns to work after airport drama
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner Roselyn Akombe is back and Kenyans online are elated.
Dr Akombe was on Wednesday pictured handing over petition materials to the commission’s lawyers.
Eyebrows were raised last week after she was briefly detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport while leaving for the United States. She was eventually released and allowed to travel.
The commission had however downplayed the detention as a delay, stating that Dr Akombe would retrun on Sunday.
Her resumption to duty and consequent handing over of petition materials to lawyers on Wednesday excited Kenyans online.
After certifying the petition materials (Forms 34-A, B &C), the Commission handed them over to the lawyers, both in hard and soft copies pic.twitter.com/J0DYuBa6pD
