City accountant charged with stealing Sh80m from Mater Hospital over 11 years
An accountant and a senior employee of Wananchi Telecom have been charged with stealing over Sh80 million from a city hospital in a span of 11 years.
Mr Paul Owuor Oming’o and Mr Solomon Odeny on Tuesday denied two charges of stealing Sh80,141,462, belonging to Mater Misericordiae Hospital.
Mr Oming’o, a former accountant at the hospital, and Mr Odeny were arraigned before senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuku.
Ms Mutuku released the two on a cash bail of Sh500,000 each or an alternative bond surety of Sh2 million.
Mr Oming’o has denied a separate charge of stealing Sh30 on diverse dates between July 22, 2012 and September 27, 2016.
The case proceeds to hearing on Wednesday.
