Couple arrested in connection with murder of Tanzanian businessman in Eastleigh three months ago

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects believed to be behind the murder of a Tanzanian businessman in Eastleigh, Nairobi three months ago.

Gerald Raphael Ramale, 50, was found in a pool of blood at his home Eastleigh 12th Street by his nephew on the night of March 24, 2024.

According to DCI, the suspects were arrested at Entarara-Loitoktok area on the Kenya-Tanzania border.

“Detectives traced the elusive culprits to their Loitoktok hideout, ultimately apprehending them and recovering the deceased’s phones,” DCI said in a statement.

The murder suspects are accused of stabbing the father of two several times and stealing his Samsung Galaxy S10 and Oppo Reno 8T mobile phone.

“Detectives traced the elusive culprits to their Loitoktok hideout, ultimately apprehending them and recovering the deceased’s phones,” the DCI said.

The deceased operated out of Gikomba Market.

“The suspects have been arraigned and custodial orders granted to the police until July 7 when the case will be mentioned,” DCI added.

In March, police said they were called and informed by a nephew of the deceased that he had gone to visit his uncle after he failed to respond to his calls, only to stumble upon the body.

The murder took place on the second floor of an apartment in the area with the nephew telling police that he found his uncle lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries and half naked.

A knife suspected to be the murder weapon was also found at the scene.

A motive for the murder has not yet been established. The body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy.
