IG Hillary Mutyambai on the recovery path
The Inspector General of Police has been discharged from hospital.
A source who spoke to Nairobi News in confidence indicated the IG namely Hillary Mutyambai who has been admitted at a Nairobi hospital for the past week is now recovering at his home.
“His condition has greatly improved and we are thankful,” explained the source.
The last official update on Mutyambai’s health was issued by acting Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow on August 26.
Gabow, in a statement shared on the Police socials, said he’d talked to Mutyambai in hospital and he was in high spirits.
Mutyambai was reported ill just after the August 9 polls moments before he signed off a letter appointing Gabow to act on his behalf as he went for medical leave.
Mr Gabow had been on the public limelight since August 15, 2022, when officers working under his command restored normalcy at the Bomas of Kenya where the presidential election results were being announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Mr Gabow is holding the sensitive position at a time when the country is in transition while awaiting the Supreme Court’s verdict on whether to uphold or nullify President-elect William Ruto’s victory.
