List of areas that will not have electricity
Two counties will today, Wednesday, January 10, 2023, be affected by power interruptions, Kenya Power has said.
In a statement, the electricity provider said that the lack of electricity would be a result of normal network maintenance, the statement read in part.
Nairobi County was at the top of the list, and the specific area that will be affected is Mathare Slums.
In Mathare, Area Four will not have electricity from 9 am to 5 pm. This means that businesses that fully rely on electricity to operate will be affected, and owners will today count losses.
In Kisii County, the power interruptions will also affect the Nyamache and Emenwa Areas.
The specific areas include Nyamache Tea Factory, Nyamache Market, Emenwa, Igare, Nyamagwa, Kebuko, Gionseri, Kionduso, Boitang’are, Borangi and adjacent customers.
Since the year kicked off, Kenya Power has been making announcements on a daily basis listing down areas that will lack electricity.

On Sunday, January 7, 2023, announced that some parts of Nairobi and Kiambu Counties will be affected by a blackout.
In a statement, the electricity provider said that the main line supplying power to Fedha Estate, Tel Aviv, Tassia, and some parts of Embakassi had been affected.
However, it said that technicians and engineers had already been deployed to restore the area’s power.
“Supply line serving Kenyatta University Ruiru Campus, Twiga Estate, Murera Estate, Mugutha, Kariuki, General Service Unit (GSU) camp in Ruiru, Kimbo, Matangi, Murera, Toll Shopping Center and its environs is off and we are on it,” the electricity provider said in a statement published on its social media accounts.
Other areas within Kiambu County that have been affected by the power interruptions, according to Kenya Power, are Ndumbuini, Kanyariri, Kabete Vetlab, Uthiru, Kinoo, Kwa Mugo Njathaini, Uthiru 87, Gakobu and its environs.
The areas of Kwihota, Kihunguro, Murera, Ruiru, Gatongora, Kilimambogo, Kamakis, Mitike Da Ruiru, and Karuguru near Eden Academy and its environs.
