New kicked out, back to the old as Tusker Malt re-launches

In 2015, Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) selected journalist and current TV talk show host Jeff Koinange as the new face of Tusker Malt, when they launched a new look.

Five years down the line, the company has gone back to the original look as it marks 23 years since it was launched in the Kenyan market by unveiling a new look bottle in what it says a renewal of its commitment to its consumers.

The product in a new bottle boasts of superior quality and an optimized production process.

In addition, the iconic 330ml green bottle will now be embossed with the name Tusker in all four sides rather than the current paper label, which is a return to the old bottling of the brand.

“This has been a particularly exciting and fulfilling year for us since our strategy has been driven by ensuring we deliver a vibrant beer business through improved innovation and the exploitation of new ideas to improve our processes, launch new products and re-launch existing products using our consumer feedback and insights on their changing tastes and preferences,” said Jane Karuku, KBL Managing Director.

During the re-launch at Kengeles Lavington Green lounge, Karuku said they have been able to re-launch the Tusker Malt Lager by responding to their consumers’ concerns on product consistency and packaging.

“Our promise today is that we will ensure consistency in quality for every sip of Tusker Malt served to each and every consumer anywhere in Kenya,” said Karuku.

The launch marked the expansion of KBL’s flagship Tusker brand that includes Tusker Lager, Tusker Malt, Tusker Lite and Tusker Cider.

EABL has in the recent years introduced new alcoholic brands in the region to grow and diversify its product portfolio by targeting different consumer segments amid stiff competition from foreign brewers in the premium and super premium segments.
