Police nab three robbery suspects after spate of crime in Mwihoko


Police in Nairobi have arrested three armed robbers who have been terrorizing locals in Mwiki and Mwihoko.

One of the suspects only identified as Kennito is accused of robbing a K24 journalist within Roysambu Bridge in 2019 leading to his arrest and imprisonment at the time.

Police say he later secured temorary freedom before going into hiding in Kibera.

“He moved to Mwihoko where he has been terrorizing locals with their home made pistols,” a report seen by Nairobi News read in part.

This comes just months after residents of Mwihoko complained of the rising insecurity in the estate.

The residents say that in the last three months, they have experienced an upsurge in crime-related incidents where young armed men have been terrorizing them.

In July 2023, two armed men accosted a man while waiting for his wife to open the gate for him.

In a CCTV footage is in our possession, the two men who were wearing caps asked the man who was standing right outside his gate to hand over his phone to them.

The men are seen brandishing pistols as they ransacked his pockets, intending to get any more valuable items he may be carrying.

He is even seen raising his hands as he pleads with the armed robbers not to harm him.

The man had just alighted from a matatu and was standing outside his gate when three robbers riding on a motorbike arrived and ordered him to hand over everything he had to them.

The incident was captured in CCTV footage and later shared on various social media platforms by locals.

Raising alarm from locals who said that police have been sleeping on their job.
