Police probe death of young woman at Kasarani apartment
Details of how a woman met her death at a short stay apartment in Kasarani, a Nairobi suburb, have been made public.
A postmortem report seen by Nairobi indicates the deceased, namely Ms Juanitor Mbula Nzomo, “suffered multiple trauma injuries” to her body after falling off an apartment located in Thome, Kasarani Sub-County in Nairobi.
“She suffered multiple force trauma injuries which are consistent with a fall from the top,” said Dr Peter Muriuki, who conducted the autopsy on March 5, 2024.
Police believe the woman spent the night of March 1, 2024, at the apartment in the company of a male companion.
Detectives are yet to establish whether she was thrown or jumped to her death.
She was found half naked.
However, authorities believe she must have differed with her companion who was captured on CCTV cameras leading her to the house hours before the incident happened.
The man who is nursing multiple stab wounds in hospital said he was not aware of the whereabouts of the woman.
He further told the police the lady he had spent the night with stabbed him.
And in an interesting turn of events, Airbnb, a renowned online application, says the house is not registered with them, a move raising concerns people are illegally running short-term stay houses.
The government recently instructed all persons running short term stay businesses to be registered and ensure CCTV camers are installed.
Interestingly, the man and woman are said to not have been in a long term relationship. Investigations reveal they met in an entertainment joint located within Mirema Drive in Kasarani Sub-County.
With the man still in hospital, police say that they would have to wait for his medical condition to improve before he shares his side of the story.
Investigations say he is considered a person of interest in what could be yet another murder incident to tale place at a short-term stay apartment in Nairobi.
In the last two months, three ladies have lost their lives in mysterious circumstances at short-stay homes.
All of the incidents reportedly involve men.
In one particular case, a University student’s body was dismembered in what police say is a murder case.
Police are pursuing her killer.
