Popular Ohangla dancer Sheila ‘Wegesha’ Odoyo found dead in posh matrimonial home with deep throat cut

Police in Athi River, Machakos County, are investigating the gruesome murder of a popular Ohangla dancer, 38-year-old Sheila Odoyo, who was found murdered in her matrimonial bedroom on Thursday, with deep cuts on the throat.

Ms Odoyo, who goes by the stage name “Sheila Wegesha” was found in a pool of blood in her matrimonial home in the posh Hill View Estate on Thursday May 9.

“The lifeless body was lying on a bed inside her bedroom with the blood on the mattress and visible deep cut on her throat,” a police report indicated.

Ms Odoyo’s daughter, Linda Okinyi, told Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers that she learned of the death of her mother on Thursday afternoon when she had gone to serve her lunch.

Ms Okinyi further informed the detectives that her father Mr Jackson Bambo, 45, whom the sleuths are treating as a person of interest, had left home around 1am on Wednesday night driving a motor vehicle, Mitsubishi Outlander, without uttering a word on the bizarre incident.

The body was moved to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary as police dig in to establish the motive of the murder and identify the culprit.

A detective privy to the investigation told Nation on Friday in confidence that the husband remains a person of interest considering he was reported to be in the house on Wednesday night when the murder could have happened.

“There were signs of commotion in the bedroom. We are treating the husband as a person of interest. We are yet to recover the murder weapon, “he said, without revealing whether the husband had recorded a statement with the police.

A neighbor who spoke to Nation on Friday said the couple had their own share of differences like any other marriage.

“Every marriage has its own ups and downs. It is unfortunate it ended tragically,” she said.

Ms Odoyo is said to have owned a JB Liquor Store in Umoja Estate and she ran it with the helping hand of his husband.

Ms Odoyo was popular in Nairobi and environs popular Ohangla dance clubs

On Friday, the slain dancer was mourned deeply by her fans across the globe on social media platforms that were awash with photos of the two love birds in jovial moods in past night escapades.
